Meet Our Team

Shandelle Hether-Gray

Founder, clinical director, LMHC, LCPC

Shandelle (she/her) specializes in using cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-based approaches to help people make lasting changes to their self-image that lead to real changes in their lives. She is also trained in EMDR for the treatment of trauma. Her approach in therapy is hands on, goal-oriented, strengths based, and gender and identity affirming.

Shandelle works actively to help clients challenge unrealistic and self-limiting patterns of thinking, deconstruct who they are from who they have learned to be, learn how to feel safe and regulated in their body, cultivate options for difficult life situations that align with their values, and learn the necessary skills to meet their needs. These skills may include assertiveness, boundary setting and reinforcing, effective communication, goal setting, mindfulness, physiological relaxation, and grounding skills.

For the past several years, my practice has focused on working with adults, adolescents, and queer folx suffering from low self-esteem, perfectionism, negative self-talk, anxiety (generalized, panic, OCD, due to adjustment, trauma) depression, familial rejection, and emerging parenthood.

A little more about Shandelle. She is a queer woman, a mother to two lovely and fierce kids, and a neuroscience nerd. She has always danced and sang a little off beat. She grew up with nine siblings and is from Florida but don’t hold that against her. She also surfed, skated and played guitar in a girl band. A combination of lived experience, and experiencing anxiety and depression in her youth led her down the mental health field (yes, the “emo to therapist pipeline” is a real thing).

Outside of her work with clients, Shandelle is passionate about finding ways of spreading mental health awareness, getting resources in people's hands and tools in their toolbox. In 2020 she published a workbook on assertiveness, in hopes that it helps others find their voice, meet their needs, and improve their relationships.

Eva Pechin

LGPC

Eva Pechin (she/her) holds an MS from Loyola University in Clinical Psychology.  She utilizes an eclectic approach in order to treat clients with a combination of modalities to meet their individual needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, self-esteem building, mindfulness and relaxation training, and support. She strives to create a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals of all races, cultures, ethnicities, and sexual orientations to accomplish their mental health, wellness, education, and career goals.

Eva has over 11 years of experience working with adolescents and adults with a history of head injury and subsequent cognitive decline, changes in mood, and personality, and specializes in working with adolescents and adults who suffer from chronic medical conditions such as autoimmune conditions, dysautonomia, and chronic pain and fatigue. She has extensive experience in the use of neurofeedback in order to treat children and adults of all ages with symptoms of depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, PTSD, insomnia, ADHD, and cognitive dysfunction relative to head injury, possible side effects from medications, or age-related decline. She has also worked with adolescents and adults with eating disorders in both inpatient and intensive outpatient settings. Additionally, Eva has a soft spot for adolescents and adults on the Autism spectrum, as well as self-proclaimed ‘nerds’ and ‘misfits,’ providing them with the support and skills they need to fulfill their goals and to improve functioning in what can often be a critical and judgmental world.

More about Eva:  I love art and reading, although I admittedly need to prioritize more time for hobbies and self-care, which is a challenge with my two children, one of which was diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD at age 3.  The process of seeking out proper diagnoses, treatment methods and special services for him has been both eye opening and humbling.  I absolutely love animals, especially my two rescue dogs, and freely talk to them as if they are human.

Arthur Newbould

LMHC

Arthur Newbould, Licensed Therapist in NYC

Arthur (he/him) holds an M.S.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University. With several years of experience as a therapist in community clinics around New York City, Arthur has worked with clients of many different ages, cultural backgrounds, and mental health conditions. His primary clinical interests and experience include working with teenagers and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, ADHD, and relationship and attachment issues.

Arthur's philosophy as a therapist is that you are already the expert on yourself, and that therapy can help you clarify and deepen your understanding. Rather than dispensing wisdom while you receive it passively, he as your therapist can collaborate with you to help you empower yourself to pursue your goals and a life worth living. In his clinical practice, Arthur incorporates person-centered and psychodynamic techniques along with elements of cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies (CBT and DBT).

Consistent with his belief that a well-rounded life is essential to mental health, Arthur tries to stay active with his various interests, such as cooking, baking, CrossFit, and gardening. It is taking care of his beloved dog Juniper, however, that arguably occupies most of his time.
